GOOKIE DOUGH 💕

Hello everyone!

Well… I said in my previous post that I was going to be writing about things that were good for my well being and where better to start than with a yummy food review? I have never written a proper review before (except my WAGOLLs for class!)  and I am super excited that my first one is on the absolute delight that is Gookie Dough!
I had seen this product making appearances on my newsfeed on social media and knew immediately that I just HAD to try it. I bloody love cookie dough and this is just that, edible cookie dough… *gasps! * I know right?! I’ll just let you take that in a moment…

No cooking or faffing about required. Just yourself and a spoon! It comes in 4 different flavours, Funfetti Cake Batter,  Red Velvet, Gooey Chocolate Chip and Triple Chocolate Fudge. Naturally I had to sample them all.

When my parcel arrived it was all beautifully packaged with shredded tissue and had one of those cool squidgy ice packs to keep everything fresh. I paid around £20 for these delights (which I thought was a bit steep at first, for a snack) but they last ages. However, I am quite good at having things in moderation (sometimes!) … Unlike my boyfriend, who will scoff whatever is in the house in minutes! These are quite sickly though if you plan on eating them straight from the jar like I did! Even though they are delicious, they are quite heavy on the tum! Thankfully they come in mini tubs at 150g (which is what I opted for) but if you fancy something bigger,  they also do some fabulous monster tubs at 450g!

The monster tubs are particularly great if you are more creative in the kitchen, as you can use this product in all sorts of gorgeous recipes. Gookie doughs Instagram has some fabulous ideas how to use it more adventurously. From cakes and buns, doughnuts and even as a topping on pancakes! The possibilities are endless and I cannot wait to have a go at playing about with some recipes myself.

So which is the best one?! Well I am one of those people that always tries to leave the best one till last and get the one I fancy the least out of the way first! But this totally backfired on me! I didn’t think I’d like the Red Velvet as much as the others, but my goodness,  it was blummin beautiful! Definitely my favourite of the 4 flavours.

If I had to rank them in order, I would say:

1. Red Velvet

2. Triple Chocolate Fudge

3. Funfetti Cake Batter

4. Gooey Chocolate Chip

But they were all pretty tasty to be honest!!!!

Gookie Dough is such a fab little company that has hit the nail on the head with this product and I cannot wait to see if they bring out anymore flavours.

Go check them out at

http://www.gookiedough.co

They are currently offering free delivery on orders over £50 😊

Hope you’ve enjoyed my first review and it hasn’t made you too hungry!!!

Bye for now! 💕

Trying to find that work life balance.

Hello!

I havent managed to post in months, since my second post to be exact  😦

I was so determined to make blogging my new passion, my way to release my worries and share good times, but since returning back to work in September I have been… KNACKERED.

I started this blog in the summer holidays, with extra time on my hands and a life to myself. But as a teacher, like most of us find, this life has been somewhat lost since returning to the classroom. I am now in my third year of teaching and although some things have gotten easier, more responsibilities and a particularly difficult class has left me drained. I seem to work all hours and when I’m not working,  I’m stressing about work that I have still to do. I find myself feeling guilty about stealing an hour relaxing with my boyfriend or going out with my friends, because I have books to mark,  data to input or lessons to plan (amongst the rest of it!) and I am actually really organised! The list is just never ending. Don’t get me wrong… I absolutely adore my job. I love the children as if they were my own and I wouldn’t change what I do for the world. I am sure other teachers out there feel the same, that finding that work life balance in this career is difficult and on my quest to think about which direction my blog should go, I am becoming more inclined to write about my mission to find that balance.

So…I am going to get thinking about what us teachers (and other workaholics!) can do for our wellbeing and good ways to simply switch off for a little bit.

I have some reviews to come (that I’ve been meaning to write for ages!) alongside some of my own personal experiences with diet and exercise, fashion and some other posts that will hopefully just make people smile.

I’m looking forward to posting again!

Tarah for now 💕

Operation get sexy.

Hello!

I have well and truly caught the blogging bug!

I decided that having worked up a sweat at the gym this morning that it would be fitting for my second post to be about my quest for a healthier, happy lifestyle.

With it being the school holidays in England at the moment, I have had some extra time to do something that most teachers often neglect to do…and that’s taking care of ourselves! Both physically and mentally.

I have been on a bit of a mission for just over a year now to lose weight. I not only want to be slimmer, but I want to be fitter, stronger and more active. Most importantly, I want to be a good role model to those that I teach.

OPERATION GET SEXY commenced in May 2016. I had just got back from a holiday and the photographs were simply horrendous! How had I let myself get that big? Not only was I feeling like an actual whale after my holiday, but then I went through a break-up….perfect time to reinvent myself right!? 🙂 I NEEDED to change. I was 25 and even though I have always been a big lass, this was something else completely. My health really was at risk. Plus, I was fed up of being fat. I want to spend at least some of my 20’s not being conscious that people were judging me due to my weight.

I’m not sure I’m ready to publish what I weighed just yet…maybe one day. But I will say that since starting on my weight loss journey, I have lost just over 4 STONE. Having measured myself in August last year, I have also lost 2 inches from my arms, 6 inches from my hips, 5 inches from each thigh, 5 inches from my waist and 5 inches from my chest (cries slightly at that last one).

What did I do?

Stopped drinking (as much)

This has played a huge contribution towards my weight loss. I used to drink most nights and every weekend! Terrible when I think about it. but a glass or 2 of wine after work always seemed like a fab idea. Now I almost never drink during the week and its pretty rare that I will drink on a weekend tbh.  My boyfriend isn’t much of a drinker and I don’t want to sit in his house necking the gin on my own! So this has been very kind to my waistline, and purse! Of course, I haven’t stopped drinking altogether, now its the holidays I’ve loved meeting up with my pals for a few drinks and a catch up! Just everything in moderation…and if my cocktail has a massive wedge of watermelon in it then its healthy right?! haha.

Ate healthier grub

Obvious really! Instead of scoffing the pastries and cakes (mmmmm ❤ ) I replaced them with fruit and veg. A few months into ‘Operation get sexy’ I opted to join a popular weight loss group. Here I learned how to make healthier choices, cook food in a healthier way and was kept on track  by the fear of facing the scales every week! It was also incredibly motivating to share hints and tips and hear how everyone else was getting on. I went to the group on and off for a while, but then decided to go it alone again!

A typical breakfast of healthy homemade pancakes and fruit (with a bit of choc sauce)

Here are just a few things that I do to help with my weight loss.

  • Cut out the sugars in my tea and coffee. Sweetener is a great alternative.
  • Switch to that red top milk…it’s like white water but you get used to it!
  • Drink more water. I have one of those big water bottles and I try to get through at least 2 at work and 2 at home.
  • Drink more fruit tea. A nice alternative to regular tea and seems to help with my digestion too.
  • Switch from greasy cooking oil, to a calorie controlled spray oil. I could never go back!
  • Order less takeaways! I am a sucker for a take-away and as I’ve mentioned before…I am not at all fussy when it comes to food. This was disastrous for my weight in the past, as I would get home from a busy day and reach for the phone because I was too lazy to cook.
  • Cook more. Linked to the above, I decided to make more home-cooked and healthier meals myself. I would often batch cook things like curries, soups and cottage pies so I could take them into work (great on cold days when I didn’t fancy a salad!)
  • Move more. Exercise really is key for a healthy mind and really helped me shift those pounds!
  • Don’t give up. So many times I thought SOD IT and ate my way through a whole packet of family sized crisps. It’s so important to not to let these moments dishearten you! Dust your self off and carry on! It will be worth it.

Move it!

Like I said above…moving more really helped me lose weight! Now don’t get me wrong, I am in no way a fitness fanatic and I have thought I was going to die on more than one occasion whilst working out. However, it became sort of an addictive buzz. I used to be terrified of the gym, scared I was going to be laughed at and ridiculed, so I never went. Biggest mistake I ever made. After I lost about a stone and gained a little confidence, I joined my local gym (perfect as teachers get discount!) and I loved it! Everyone was so friendly and I soon discovered that I actually enjoyed going! I didn’t (and still don’t) really have any real clue what to do to optimise toning up etc, so I just go on what I enjoy. I usually go on the cross trainer, bike, rower, treadmill and I have started doing some strength exercises for my flabby arms. I also try and hit my goal of 10,000 steps every day Not always easy! Especially in the school holidays.

I have really found that not only has exercise helped with my weight loss, but it has also done wonders for my mental well being. I have been known to suffer from anxiety and since working out and walking more, I have found that this has eased a little 🙂 bonus eh?!

Looking super attractive after today’s gym workout! If my fringe isn’t a mess, then I haven’t worked hard enough!

New goals

Where to now? I have already lost quite a bit of weight and I am very proud of how far I have come. However, I am still nowhere near where I want to be. Ideally, I would like to lose another 2 stone and another couple of inches from everywhere! My target is to do this by Christmas this year! But if I don’t get there, I shall just keep plodding along until I do 🙂

Thank you all for reading.

A little bit of an insight into my life.

After a great deal of ‘umming’ and ‘ahhing’ about what my first post should be about (and about what my blog in general should be about tbh!) I have decided that the most logical place to start is with myself and with a bit of an explanation as to why I decided to start this blog.

I have always wanted to blog, but as a teacher, I wasn’t sure it was the best idea. Blogs are very public. I am an incredibly private person and in my profession, privacy is VERY important. However, it is something I keep coming back to. I have followed a variety of different blogs for years. Fashion, lifestyle and even some teaching blogs. So I thought WHY THE HECK NOT?! I may be a teacher, but I’m also a person with interests. Interests that I want to share… Although, I am known for swearing a fair bit when I’m not at work, so thought I’d best keep this blog PG and avoid it, just in case some little eyes (or their parents) happen to stumble across it! So prepare for a lot of “sugar” “oh heck” and if I’m feeling particularly annoyed I might even throw in a “bloody hell” because lets face it…teachers have personalities too!

A bit about me.

  • Name: Chelsea
  • Age: 26
  • Height: 5ft 4 (and a half…that’s very important)
  • Weight: Not as fat as I used to be!
  • Relationship Status: Taken by Michael ❤
  • Tattoos: 1
  • Kids: None of my own, but I do have a class of 24 that I always call “my kids”
  • Fave foods: Cheese, pastry, gravy, cereal, pizza….the list goes on.  Tbh, it would probably have been better to list what I don’t like. Sweetcorn…when its on the cob and coriander. Literally about it! I’ll eat anything.
  • Fave movies: The Breakfast Club, The Goonies, The Lost Boys and anything with Tom Hanks.
  • Fave bands: ADTR, The Amity Affliction, Beartooth, Blink 182, Neck Deep, State Champs, Enter Shikari, Architects….to name just a few! (I have seen all of these bands except Architects *cries*)

What else? Well…I could write a post about most of the things I have mentioned above! I don’t want to bore you all with a mammoth post straight away! haha. If you have any questions or helpful advice for me (much appreciated!) head over to my twitter or leave me a comment 🙂

So what is my blog about?

Well…I am yet to figure that out! I want to blog about EVERYTHING. From the gigs I go to, to the movies I watch. Even about how I am feeling, the products I’m using, teaching strategies I like and the places I’ve been. Basically, my blog is going to be an outlet for me to waffle. I hope you all don’t mind.
